*~ *~ Moonlight Cruise Fundraiser ~ July 21st, 2002 ~ Boarding at 6:30 pm
Join PRIDE York Region aboard the Mariposa Belle for the 5th Annual Moonlight Cruise. Your $45
ticket includes a four-hour cruise of Toronto Islands and Harbour, a delicious buffet dinner,
entertainment, music, door prizes, dancing under the stars and more! This is our major fundraising
event of the year, so along with a great time on the lake, you'll feel good knowing you're
supporting our toll-free helpline and other important LGBTQ services in York Region.

*~ Meet the Entertainers ~ An evening of comedy and glamour!
This year's cruise stars award-winning comic Laurie Elliott and special guest Sasha Montenegro, Miss
Gay Latino America 2000.
Laurie Elliott, popular Toronto comic, is well-known for her appearances at The Rivoli, The Clinton,
ALTdot Comedy Lounge, Buddies in Bad Times, and CBC Radio's 'Brave New Waves' series, to name just
a few. Laurie won the Tim Sims Encouragement Award for most promising young comic of 2000,
presented in remembrance of Tim Sims, a gifted comedian who passed away in 1995 of AIDS-related
illness. EYE Magazine said, "With Elliott the judges [came] up with a winner who most closely
reflects the values and aesthetics Sims so dearly loved. Laurie Elliott takes risks and does so
with honest bravado."
Female impersonator Sasha Montenegro's unique blend of mystery, beauty, Latin rhythms, and
spectacular costumes has been dazzling crowds in Toronto and internationally since the late 90's. A
popular featured performer at El Convento Rico nightclub and the fondly-remembered Diva's Bar in
Whitby, Sasha has held many titles, most recently Miss Gay Latino America 2000.

*~ Where? ~ How to find the Mariposa Belle
The Mariposa Belle is docked on the east side of Queen's Quay Terminal, just west of the foot of
York Street. You'll find parking directly north of the building or light rail transit (TTC) stops
in front. Parking coupons will be provided after the cruise and are good for a discount at the lot
on the north side of Queen's Quay West*. We board at 6:30 and sail at 7:00 pm sharp, returning to
dock at 11 pm.
